Insomnia - Getting a Better Night's Sleep Self Hypnosis Cds

One of the most important aspects of our daily routine is sleep. Sleep is a necessity if we are going to function during our waking hours with competence and with sufficient energy to do what we have chosen to do with our lives (work and play).

Occasionally, all of us will have a broken night's sleep. In other words we won't enjoy what we would consider a normal sleep for us. Let me be clear that we are all different and we all have different sleeping patterns. Some people need to sleep for 9 hours or more whilst others can function on much less. It is said that that Margaret Thatcher found 4 or 5 hours of sleep more than enough for her needs. It is when our sleep is disturbed and we may use the expression 'tossing and turning' that our sleep is considered not to be as good as we would have liked.

Temporary worries or concerns can 'play on one's mind' and cause your sleep to be disturbed. Any kind or abnormal stress such as from a divorce, relationship difficulty, financial troubles or any other life issues can be at the root of a sleep problem.

Most sleep problems are due to temporary issues as listed above. If you are unable to sleep over a long period of time then your should consult your doctor.

Sleep has a certain amount of habit about it and you can develop a good habit of sleep or you can mess up that habit.

If you are experiencing insomnia here are some useful tips that may just crack it for you: -

1) Make sure the bedroom is kept for sleep and lovemaking only.
2) Do NOT read in bed. Read in a different room and then when you have finished reading go to your bedroom.
3) Do NOT have computers or televisions situated in your bedroom if you can help it.
4) Try to go to bed at roughly the same time of night.
5) Try to deal with anything you need to deal with before you go to bed. Remember the old expression "don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today"
6) If you have something on your mind, or are worried about forgetting something that you have to do the next day, write a note to yourself. That way you can know with confidence that you won't forget.
7) Clean your bed linen on a regular basis. A nice clean bed will help you feel good when you lie in it.
8) De-clutter your bedroom. Clear out all the old rubbish and anything you have stored there. The less cluttered your bedroom is the nicer the environment it will be for sleeping in.
9) Have a nice aroma in your bedroom. Lavender is supposed to help create an ambience of calm and relaxation.
10) A hot bath about 30 minutes before going to bed will help relax your muscles which in turn will help you to sleep.
11) If you find you can't get to sleep DON'T lie in bed tossing and turning. Get up and go to another room and do something until you start to feel tired. When you do go back to bed again.
12) Introduce a mental relaxation regime into your life. Think about taking up yoga, meditation or learning self hypnosis. All these techniques help to quieten the mind and bring about physical relaxation.

Remember that sleep is vital to your well-being. Sleep deprivation can lead to increased stress levels amongst other things. Many people find that a self hypnosis cd can help restore the good sleep habits. You can even listen to the Insomnia hypnosis cd in bed and go to sleep to it.

Self Hypnosis Cds - Adding to their power

If you listen to any self hypnosis cds on any subject you can add to the power of those hypnosis cds by implementing practical changes in your life.

You know that it only takes a small change to make a big difference. Just a small change in direction can over time lead to a big shift in many areas of a person’s life. Let me explain by using a metaphor.

A modern oil tanker is an enormous ship. It can be bigger than 10 tennis courts. A ship of that size cannot turn very quickly. The captain has to anticipate in advance a turning that the ship needs to make towards a port otherwise the ship will miss that port. So the captain calculates the direction, the heading if you like, that the ship needs to be steered. Now if that calculation is wrong by even 1 degree that ship, unless it is corrected, will miss the port but quite some distance. So even a small change in direction can make a big difference over a period of time.

Likewise in life, a small change can make a big difference over time. The great news is that a small change generally equates to a manageable change because it is small. So it is important to accept and recognise that small changes do lead towards bigger changes particularly if you make a number of those small changes.

For instance do you realise that if you made one small change each week that by the end of the year you would have made 52 changes in your life. That is quite some success and progress for any one in a year.

An example of how to put this in practice might be the person who wants to lose weight but has struggled with various diets. Rather than change everything overnight, consider the idea of changing one thing each week. The first week you might substitute a healthier and smaller meal for that unhealthy one. This change can be strengthened if you made that healthier meal always on a particular day. For example, Wednesday is your day for the healthier meal.

Then the following week you decide to go for a walk or even a run around your local park. So now you have made 2 changes in 2 weeks and it also motivates you because these enable you to feel like you are doing something positive towards controlling your weight. Then if you listen to a self hypnosis cd on self confidence when in bed on a Friday night now you have made 3 changes in 3 weeks.

The idea of all of this is that the positive changes get added gradually and not all at once. I think you would agree that 3 or 4 or 5 changes in one week might seem overwhelming and too much to do at once. This piecemeal approach in effect keeps the ball rolling and because every week you add something new it also gives you choices.

What I mean by choices is that you can then decide to stop doing one of the new changes you have made if you find it is boring or unhelpful or just too inconvenient for your lifestyle. Is you do this then all you need to do is find a different change to implement in its place and your progress towards your goal is maintained.

There is an expression which sums up the above idea very well "If you keep doing the same thing you tend to end up with the same result. If you want to change you need to do something different".

Self Hypnosis Cds - Effective Use for Better Results

You should treat the use of a hypnosis cd just like you use a tool. In other words, any tool has the potential to do a great job as long as it is used for its intended purpose. The message here is that a tool is only useful if it is used.

People who purchase a hypnosis cd want help in a specific area of their life. These areas might be stress management, alcoholic addiction, smoking, concentration, study, weight, insomnia and more. Often the hypnosis cd is being used to undo or reprogram a specific behaviour or habit. That behaviour or habit may have been in existence for many years.

In order to change that old program (behaviour) it is important to listen to the hypnosis cd on a regular basis. Although there will be people who will get instant results others will need to make a habit of tuning in to the suggestions on that hypnosis cd.

Some hypnotherapists suggest listening to a specific hypnosis recording everyday for 30 days and then to reduce the frequency to 3 or 4 times a week and then maybe twice a week. The idea behind this thought is that the suggestions contained in the hypnosis cd get compounded each and every time someone hears them. Compounding, or the repetition of the same suggestions is a therapeutic strategy that all hypnotherapists use.

So the advice is to listen to any hypnosis cd recording frequently when you first get it. Although it is not suggested that you listen to it more than once a day. You can also get around the excuse of not having the time to listen to it by playing the hypnosis cd when in bed and go to sleep to it. The beneficial suggestions will still pass to the subconscious mind even though consciously you are asleep.
